We went outside to the grassy courtyard behind the hospital twice today, and Meredith crawled all over it pretending to be a dog and pulling up grass.  Even without therapies  today she got in her exercise.  But mostly, she enjoyed a couple of hours of free play in her own little world.   She also had a great visit with Ella and Rose and their mom, Robin.  The Johnsons live two doors down from us and are Mere’s scooter buddies.

She met her fluid goal today and took her meds by mouth.  Another day of this and the doctor said the NG tube can be removed on Sunday!!!

I’m staying a little later these days to help her take her 9:00 meds (which is the bulk of them), so I might be writing some shorter blogs.  Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.  God has answered so many prayers for our girl and He is STILL listening!  Thanks be to the God of mercy and grace.

Meredith’s story

Eight year old Meredith has been in the hospital since April 27th, first in a medically induced coma and now for continued occupational and physical therapy. The doctors were baffled for over 3 weeks and didn't know what had caused her seizures and illness.

On May 13, Meredith was diagnosed with Acute Necrotyzing Encephalopathy after being transferred to Cincinnati Children's Hospital the day before.

On June 1, after slowly being eased off her anti-seizure meds over the course of many days, Meredith started rehab. The doctors estimate that she may be released in mid-July.

Please pray that Meredith continues to improve and respond with her therapies and pray for continued strength for Meredith's parents, sister and extended family.
