Normal life
Posted July 28, 2009
on:Three months ago yesterday Meredith was first admitted to the hospital. Three months ago today she had her first major seizure and was put into a coma. Since coming home last night she rode her scooter, played with her dog, slept peacefully in her own bed, played and fought with her sister and played Wii with her Dad. Meredith is still healing, but there is no doubt that God has restored her this far and will continue His work in her.
Posts might not happen as frequently now, but I thank each of you for the time you’ve spent praying for our family, reading the blog, and encouraging us in so many ways. More to come as normal life allows!
Homeward bound!

on:We are headed home later today. MRI around noon or 1:00.

on:We are finishing up what has been a very quiet and relaxing and joyful 24 hour visit at home with Meredith. (Grace will be posting some videos of it soon.) She has loved being back at home. At one point she said, “I forgot how beautiful our house was.” She and Laura Campbell have been very happy together. Laura Campbell is sad for her to leave in an hour, but the countdown is very close now!
She will either get discharged tomorrow or Wednesday! We will find out after we talk to the doctors and therapists tomorrow. They would like her to stay until Wednesday to continue working on cognitive issues and her focus, but the insurance people think that since she’s well enough for a visit home, she could be discharged Monday. I will post when we find out!
Also, tomorrow will be one last MRI for a while. Mostly neurology wants to see what, if anything, has changed since the last one 2 months ago.

on:Meredith actually got to play Wii tennis this morning in therapy. She is off of her blood pressure medication now but they are increasing the pain/nerve medicine for her foot. That means she has 2 morning meds and 3 at night — the lowest amount yet!
Laura Campbell has been wanting to come visit this week, and will hopefully come tomorrow. She is having some emotional moments with the lack of stability that she’s had to deal with. But a week from today, Lord willing, we will be back home again adjusting to real family life again. What mercies He has shown us!
